Hemel Hempstead Town is delighted to announce the loan signing of Leo Ramirez-Espain from Watford FC Academy.
Leo Ramirez-Espain joined Watford in 2016 and he has been in their academy since the age of nine. He made his first appearance for Watford in August 2024, where he came off the bench in Watford’s 5-0 win in the Carabao Cup against MK Dons. The defensive midfielder also came off the bench for a 20 minute cameo in the next round of the competition against Plymouth Argyle.
In August 2026, Leo secured some more first team minutes at Vicarage Road despite the Hornets crashing out of the Carabao Cup to Peterborough United.
In November 2025, Leo Ramirez-Espain went out on loan to Yeovil Town, however he could only muster up one appearance at Huish Park before being recalled by his parent club.
Leo plays in midfield and has been dubbed as an “intelligent” player by Tom Cleverley in an interview a couple of years ago. He was seen by Cleverley as a very good prospect, who was not too far away from first-team level at Vicarage Road.
Leo can bring plenty of energy to the Hemel midfield. He tends to play the ball along the deck as opposed to playing the ball in the air. He always looks to bring the ball forward, and the 19 year old always seems to be progressive in the play.
We are delighted to bring Leo on board to HP2!
