Hemel Hempstead Town Football Club is delighted to announce the arrival of exciting midfielder Billy Mardell-Smith after a massive season at Southern League Div 1 side Hertford Town, where he registed 16 goals and 20 assists over his 25/26 season!
Spending his whole youth career at Watford Academy, Billy is a local boy - and even gained himself a call up into international football with England, are impressing at U16 level. After being released from Watford at 16, Billy restarted his career through academy programme BHPP who supported his academy journey and got him another step into mens football with Hertford Town.
"Billy featured for us with a brief cameo against Barnet at the start of pre-season, and even in that short spell you saw what he was all about. He wanted to get on the turn, work half a yard to get shots off, and he wasn't afraid taking risks in possession. His first thought when he gets the ball is to play forward, make things happen and want to score goals. It isn't a surprise that Billy scored as many goals as he did last year with Hertford Town as he is very positive in his play, and quick to get shots off."

"Signing a player of Billy's profile is all part of our efforts to try and make us better with the ball than we were last year and provide us with the technical quality to shift the style slightly from being overly direct to getting it down to play. One thing that really attracted us to Billy was his temperament and his attitude. He has got a willingness to learn, works hard, and he recognises that working under a manager that gives opportunities to players in stepping up such as Lee will be a good 'next step' for his development." - JOE POPE | HEAD OF RECRUITMENT
