CLUB HISTORY:
Torquay United Football Club was founded on 1st May 1899 and began life playing at Teignmouth Road, where they won their first recognised match 5-0 against Upton Cricket Club. After early struggles with grounds and local competition, support for the club continued to grow. Following mergers with Ellacombe and Babbacombe, the modern Torquay United was formed in 1921. The club joined the Football League in 1927 and has since enjoyed promotions, famous cup runs and Wembley appearances, while overcoming many challenges throughout its proud history, and now compete in the National League South.

Jimmy Ball was appointed Manager of The Gulls in March 2026, joining from AFC Totton. The 50-year-old former Forest Green coach was recognised for his leadership, attacking philosophy and previous success in achieving promotion

The 27-year-old, who was appointed Club Captain in August, joined from Oldham Athletic and was described as a natural leader with a wealth of experience. He joined the club to bolster the midfield and leadership, after a short spell at Oldham.

Torquay United delivered their performance of the season with a stunning 7-0 win over Eastbourne Borough at Plainmoor in front of 2,952 supporters. Louis Dennis struck twice early on before Jordan Young and Dylan Morgan made it 4-0 by half-time.
Torquay remained relentless after the break, as Dennis completed his hat-trick, Morgan added a second and Young wrapped up the scoring. It was a ruthless display that underlined The Gulls’ attacking quality.
LAST TIME OUT: Hemel Hempstead Town 2-1 Torquay United

Last time out, Torquay United suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to The Tudors. Millar Matthews-Lewis gave Hemel the lead in the first half before Ed Palmer equalised in the 66th minute to bring The Gulls level.
However, The Tudors responded through a second from Matthews-Lewis in the 72nd minute to secure all three points.

LOUIS DENNIS
Position: Forward
Joined: May 2025
Louis Dennis signed a two-year deal after leaving League Two side Bromley. The forward enjoyed two spells with Bromley, first joining in 2014, and scored 22 goals during a standout 2017/18 campaign before moving to Portsmouth and Leyton Orient. Returning in 2021, Dennis helped Bromley win the FA Trophy in 2022 and played a key role in their historic promotion to the Football League in 2024

SEB STACEY
Position: Goalkeeper
Joined: April 2024
Torquay United were pleased to announce the loan signing of MK Dons goalkeeper Seb Stacey, with the young shot-stopper agreeing a deal at Plainmoor until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
With ever-present goalkeeper James Hamon recently sidelined through a shoulder injury, the club brought in the goalkeeper to see out the remainder of the campaign.
19-year-old Stacey is no stranger to the demands of National League South, having enjoyed a successful loan stint with The Gulls’ divisional rivals Worthing earlier this term.
JORDAN YOUNG
Position: Forward
Joined: May 2024

Jordan Young agreed a permanent deal with The Gulls until May 2027 and arrived with an excellent reputation, having begun his career in the EFL with Swindon Town, where he made seven appearances and scored once before joining Coventry City.
Moves to Gloucester City and Chippenham Town saw Young gain valuable experience of first-team action thereafter, and after becoming a regular goalscorer at Town, Yeovil moved to bring the former Scotland youth international to Huish Park in January 2023.
