Slough Town 2-0 Hemel Hempstead Town

Match report by Allan Mitchell

Hemel’s recent poor run of form continued with the almost inevitable two goal defeat at Arbour Park,  a result that leaves the Tudors in 17th place with the teams below them snapping at their heels.

The first half was a pretty dour affair and looked to be heading for stalemate at the interval until the 41st minute when a powerful dipping shot from Johnny Goddard looked to have been covered by Craig King but he couldn’t hold onto the ball and it fell to the feet of Nathan Minhas who took a touch before slotting it home,

The second half saw Slough step up through the gears and they pressed Hemel back from the start, forcing a series of corners. After a couple of half chances they went further ahead in the 57th minute when Hemel lost the ball in midfield, the impressive Minhas raced towards the box before laying the ball into the path of Goddard who made no mistake, driving it past King into the bottom corner.

Tudors boss made a couple of substitutions which seemed to liven the visitors up and they started to create some chances themselves, The best came in the 75th minute when a decent effort from George Williams took a deflection but Lincoln saved well at his near post.

Whittaker then brought another good save from the Slough keeper as Hemel tried to find a way back into the game but Slough always looked good on the counter as the Tudors pushed players up.

Montel McKenzie clipped the top of the crossbar as the clock ticked down and that was as close as they came and they came away from Buckinghamshire pointless.

Next up is are ‘in form’ Worthing side who head to Vauxhall Road on Saturday, so things don’t get any easier for a Hemel side who need to stop the rot after five successive defeats.
