The History

Having initially been founded in 1890, Yeovil Town reformed in 1895 playing under the name Yeovil Causals. The Glovers adopted the name ‘Yeovil Town’ in 1907 following a merger with Petters United. The side from Somerset have had a rich history attached to them, being founding members of the Alliance Premier League - now known as the National League. The turn of the millennium saw the Glovers achieve great success, winning the FA Trophy in 2001 before achieving promotion to the Football League just a season later. Yeovil lasted two seasons in League Two before being promoted to League One under the management of Gary Johnson. However, arguably the greatest achievement of Yeovil Town was gaining promotion to the Championship in the 2012/13 season.

Whilst relegations came in following seasons, Yeovil have also had numerous cup runs as they hosted Manchester United in front of the TV cameras. The last clash at the Focus Community Arena between the two teams came on the opening day of the 2023/24 season, as the Tudors came out 1-0 winners. The Glovers currently compete in the National League after winning the 2023/24 campaign and will look to avenge this defeat at the Tudors’ home, where they currently remain unbeaten this season.

The Manager: Richard Dryden

This season has been a tough period for Yeovil Town in terms of managerial departures. After starting the season out with Mark Cooper, he was relieved of his duties just a month into the campaign. In came Danny Webb, who lasted just a single game before announcing his resignation after one game due to personal reasons. Richard Dryden was then brought into the managerial role for the resignation, with a respectable CV of coaching experience. Having worked as assistant manager at Notts County, Forest Green, Barrow and Aldershot, Dryden had learned from experienced managers in Mark Cooper and Tommy Widdrington and will be looking to ensure consistency within the Yeovil squad throughout this season.

The Skipper: Jake Wannell

Operating as a defender, Jake Wannell has shown signs of consistency in the National League, joining the club in 2023 from Taunton Town. Having started his career at the Exeter City Academy, the towering defender has had a wealth of experience within non league, with spells at Dorchester Town, Chippenham and Poole Town. After permanent spells at Weymouth and Salisbury, Wannell joined Taunton where he helped them gain promotion to the National League South alongside keeping 19 clean sheets in the first season at Step 2. He will look to continue to showcase his defensive strength and leadership against an organised Tudors side.

Their recent form:

After a poor defeat in their most recent fixture at home to high-flying Boreham Wood, Yeovil Town have been able to pick up some vital points in difficult fixtures, as they look to continue to remain consistent. Their recent upturn in form has improved on what was a poor start to the season, which has pushed the Glovers up to a mid table position.

Name: Junior Morias

Joined: August 2025

Position: Striker

Joining the Glovers in the summer following the mutual termination of his contract with Notts County, Junior Morias has proved for many years that his goalscoring instincts in the National League remain as the striker currently has four goals so far this season. Having formerly represented Hemel’s rivals St Albans, Morias has played for a host of clubs during his career, with his most impressive stage of his career coming at Dagenham & Redbridge

Name: Luke McCormick

Joined: August 2025

Position: Central Midfielder

Also joining Yeovil Town this summer, Luke McCormick has been quick to make a positive first impression as a central midfielder. After progressing through the youth system at Chelsea, McCormick had his first permanent move to AFC Wimbledon where he spent just one season. A move to Bristol Rovers was to follow in 2022, before a loan spell at Forest Green came in January of this year. A permanent move to the Glovers came in August, with McCormick already scoring three goals and assisting one this season.

Name: Morgan Williams

Joined: July 2021

Position: Centre Back

Morgan Williams is a familiar name to Yeovil Town supporters, having spent periods of his career out on loan in Somerset. His loan spells from Coventry City came during the 2019/20 and 2020/21 campaigns, as Williams aimed for consistent minutes. Once his contract at the Sky Blues expired, the Glovers were quick to pick the defender up on a permanent deal. Williams can play in positions across the back line as he has made himself a consistent starter in this Yeovil Town squad.
