Opposition Focus | Hornchurch F.C

Back on the road for the Tudors for a rare Tuesday evening game in Essex - Hemel coming off the back of a devastating defeat back at home on Saturday, they're looking to finally get their break and regain some form away at Hornchurch Stadium. Coming off of a succession a good results, they'll be looking to continue their streak against a slightly wounded Hemel side.

Let's have a look at tomorrow evenings opponents.

Founded: 1923

Nickname: The Urchins

Stadium: The Stadium (Hornchurch Stadium)

Stadium Capacity: 3500

Manager: Daryl McMahon

Tomorrow evening we travel to Essex to face the team locally known as the Urchins. Looking to continue their run of good results, Hornchurch enters this fixture with no losses in their last 5 - their last loss being back at the start of October at the end of a 3-1 defeat away at Dorking Wanderers. The recently promoted side has had some massive results that recently saw them get three points from big league favourites Torquay United.

Horchurch's history doesn't go back as far as some of the other teams in this league - being formed as a park league team known as Upminster Wanderers, they stayed at the same level for 15 years, finishing as champions of the Romford League 3 times and runners up twice.

Jump to their most recent success, Hornchurch gained promotion to the National League South 21 points clear at the top of the Isthmian League - the first half of their season under manager Steve Morrison, who was replaced by current manager Daryl McMahon, previously from Dagenham & Redbridge. Not only that, the promotion came after a victory in the FA Trophy at Wembley in 2021.

The Manager: Daryl McMahon

Former player Daryl McMahon as seen his fair share of National League Sides, previously playing at Farnborough, Boreham Wood, Eastleigh, Torquay United and Ebbsfleet. He managed Ebbsfleet from 2015 - 2018, appointed manager of Macclesfield in 2019 before moving to Dag & Red, and finally joining Hornchurch in Jan 2024 and leading them to promotion from the Isthmian League Premier Division to the National League South.

A quick turnaround for a big game, but we can't wait to hear you! We look forward to seeing those of you travelling to Essex to back our Tudors and help support them as they face a tough opposition in Hornchurch! See you tomorrow :)
