OPPOSITION FOCUS | Enfield Town (H)

Written by Patrick Dodge

The Key Info:

Founded: 2001

Nickname: The Towners

Manager: Gavin Macpherson

Stadium: Queen Elizabeth II Stadium

Capacity: 2,500

History:

Enfield Town FC were formed in 2001 as a supporter-owned club, becoming the first fan run club, a fact very proudly shown on the front of their website. The club began their journey in the Essex Senior League and climbed steadily through the non-league pyramid.

Enfield achieved success in the Isthmian League and, under manager Gavin Macpherson, earned promotion to the National League South via the Isthmian League play-offs in 2024. Since then, the Towners have been competing at Step 2, adapting to the demands of the National League South with commitment and battling performances.

The Gaffer:

Gavin Macpherson took charge of Enfield Town FC ahead of the 2023/24 season, he was previously with Metropolitan Police FC, including roles as player, assistant manager and manager all over the span of two decades Macpherson guided Enfield Town FC to promotion in his first season with the club, they then survived on the final day of last season, retaining their National League South status for another year, with the team already picking up some impressive results following retaining that status such as the 5-1 win against Farnborough on 22 November.

The Skipper:

Captain Mickey Parcell is a hugely respected figure at Enfield, clocking in over 200 appearances for the club over two stints at the club. Parcell returned for his second spell in the 2023 season and was made captain shortly after.

Parcell is a mainstay at the back for Enfield and was previously in Isthmian Team of the Season for two years running in his first stint at the club.

Form Guide:

Starting their season 6 games without a win, the Towners season hasn’t been a desirable one. After scraping safety last season, just 3 points clear of the drop, Enfield needed to start strong to make their stay in the National League South a more confident one.

20 games in and the Towners have only won 5 of their games, and sit in 21st, only one point from league safety. They will be looking for a bit of luck to get more consistent results, after winning against big teams like Maidstone and Farnborough but losing to smaller opponents like Harborough Town - who currently sit 2nd in the Southern League Premier Central.

Last five games

🟢 (H) win 2-1 vs Maidstone – 25 November 2025

🟢 (H) win 5-1 vs Farnborough – 22 November 2025

Sam Youngs - Midfielder

One of Enfield Town’s most influential players, Sam Youngs has been a key figure for the club for many seasons.

With 300 appearances in Town colours and a wealth of goals and assists to his name, Youngs combines experience, creativity and goal threat from midfield.

During the current campaign he has been among the Towners’ leading scorers, underpinning their attacking play.

Lamar Reynolds - Forward

A notable summer signing, Lamar Reynolds joined from Greenock Morton and offers pace, power and directness in attack.

Originally used on the wing at his previous club, he has been deployed as a central forward for the Towners, notching 3 goals.

Played for both: Bayley Brown - Defensive-Mid

Notable for his height (6’5) and his strength, Bayley is no stranger to the National League South, spending time at St Albans City, Hampton & Richmond and now Enfield.

Notably a Tudor during Brad Quinton and Bobby Wilkinson’s tenure in charge, Bayley had a total of 63 appearances, bagging himself 7 goals in the process.

Now at Enfield, he’s almost reached the same level, possibly hitting his 43rd appearance for the Towners this weekend.
