The Romans were founded in 1889 as Bath AFC. Competing in their first match on the 10th of October 1889, in which they lost 9-4 to Trowbridge Town at the North Parade Ground. Two years later in 1891 the club were struggling financially and joined with the local rugby club at the time, before then renaming to Bath City in 1905. Winning the Southern League Western twice in 1930 and 1933 respectively.

Way was appointed manager of the Romans just before Christmas 2024, after leaving his 4 year tenure at Yeovil Town in 2019. Previous to managing the Yeovil side, he had a successful playing career playing for teams such as Norwich City, Swansea City and Yeovil Town themselves.

Kieran Parselle started his footballing career at Newport County Youth, then signed for the Senior Team in May 2015, making his debut with them in August 2015.
