It was a cold, dark night in West London, and with the sound of the Diwali fireworks and the
Heathrow flight path in the air it was time for a Tuesday night under the lights. A healthy
crowd including a helping of Tudors fans watched a tough battle, ultimately won by the better
team on the night.
Hemel, buoyed by the defeat at Totton on Saturday, were determined to put things right.
However, Hampton & Richmond started on the front foot, trying to bring about a change in
fortunes of their own.
A feisty first half was changed on the 20 minute mark, when a poor clearance from ex-Tudor
Holden in the Hampton goal fell at the feet of Kyle Ajayi. He hit the ball sweetly enough to
loop over the ‘keeper’s head and into the net. It was a fine finish from a player who is
growing in confidence, and is getting better as we get deeper into the season.
Not many more chances for the rest of the half, but Hemel looking in control.

Half Time – Hampton & Richmond Borough 0 – 1 Hemel Hempstead Town
The second half started quite lively, but Hampton & Richmond didn’t seem to have the
urgency that was required when you’re 1-0 down at home. It didn’t take too long into the half
for Hemel to punish that further.
Following a couple of sighters from Jake Gray after some fine work from Matthew Achuba,
Millar Matthews-Lewis slipped between the defenders, and his shot was deflected over the
‘keeper into the net to double the Tudor advantage.

Hampton pushed more, the best chance when a goalmouth scramble fell to Kai Woollard-
Innocent, his strike hitting the post. Good chances at both ends for the rest of the half, and
then it ramped up.
86 minutes in, Rohan Ince was brought down softly, the referee giving the home side the
penalty. Ronan Silva stepped up to convert to give Hampton a fighting chance. Then 90
seconds later Gray got in front of the goalkeeper, and was brought down. Joe White stepped
up, but unfortunately put the ball wide to the left.
Despite this, Hemel held on at the end to claim a strong away win.
