Bedford born, Laurie began his footballing career with MK Dons before moving to Millwall and then Cambridge United. Laurie then joined Morecambe in 2010, making his debut against Macclesfield Town in the Football League Trophy. After release from Morecambe at the end of the season, Laurie signed for Kettering Town in 2011 and became a firm favourite with the fans for his shot stopping exploits. Whilst at Kettering, Laurie was named in the England C contingency squad.

After a tough period with Kettering Town and their financial plight, Walker signed for Brackley Town in October 2012 before signing dual registration forms with Leamington FC a month later where he saw out the remainder of the season as Leamington's main keeper, helping them to win the Southern Premier League title. Laurie gained his second title medal last season as he broke The Tudors clean sheets record in his first season at Vauxhall Road.
