Kings Langley this morning taught us all a lesson in the blustering wind. If ever we needed some luck to go our way, it was today.
I saw an away team lying second in our league playing like they were relegation prospects not title contenders.
I didn't see OSPREYS play any football. Although they deservedly won on merit. I at times saw a side that would grace Twickenham.
Punts upfield to the striker or whoever was their caught us out.
Tactics that I for one would never give my boy's. The scoreline flattered Langley. One fantastic goal and three defensive errors cost us.
With DREW back in goal in the absence of EDDIE. He for one did his very best and pulled of a save late in the second half that turned the game around.
Punt after punt after punt eventually beat our defence to see Langley take the lead early on in the first half. By halftime we had a back four knackered. If this was the Langley's tactic, it worked, but if it was football you wanted to see from these two top teams you were in for a first half shock. saying that. "It's the 4th division"
I listen to players comments. I don't want to play there. can I play there ?. With one game remaining I as a manager am pretty well fed up with the moaners.
You're playing football. I am hoping to be around for a long time. I want you to do the same. I want and will bring you success. In this division I will change things as I want to give players time on the pitch. I want to see progress in players and on the pitch. One man today showed me that. JOE KNIGHT. His midfield control and distribution was first class in this wind. MITCH on the left had a very quiet 1st half by his standard. WHY ! No-one gave him the round leather thing.
RYAN and SHARKIST who normally terrorize defenders today did not gel.
When this happens it causes unrest. It causes panic. PEACE, whose amazing runs with power and strength has given this team belief all season, today couldn't get the ball from his feet.
I'm not criticizing any individual because we play as a team, but when I saw goal number two fly into the net for Langley it would have been easy for me to do so.
Going in at half time 3-0 down was painful, but the way the forward bent his shot round our big keeper was something special.
Can I remember there keeper making a save ? Can you.
Now I know you're all sitting round your tables at school reading this report, so I can assure you that the second half will make a far better read. So please read on.

it was an awkward chat at half time. 3-0 down and as a manager and assistant you have to be thinking of changing a few things. This does not necessarily mean players are not performing, but we have substitutions willing and ready to step in. I have and always will listen to my boy's comments. Billy said " why can we not play the team that was was so successful last week in the second half" . My comment to that was : we did.
I changed the defence slightly to back our defence up. We had been conceding a lot of 1st half goals of late, so I brought Tom into defence to strengthen that situation. Of coarse that would mean we are not so strong in midfield. Lets not forget we are without our playmaker EREN.
With Peace on the subs bench I had an extra defender I could bring on if things went our way. This means I could then revert Tom back into midfield with Peace at the back.
Hope that answers any questions.
We have a massive game next week against Harpenden next week with a 10 am K.O.
We kick off the second half and attack the goal in 20 seconds. A strike from BRIAN goes wide and then an effort from OHEN'E goes wrong after not reading RYAN'S cross in front of goal.
We weren't getting on top at this point , but we were certainly getting a lot more of the ball and were limiting the midfielders from banging the ball forward.
I wanted our boy's to send our forwards in on goal by sending balls over the defenders, but it was the ball at ground level they kept doing and 4 out of 5 didn't make it. That is football. That is future players trying to do things before there time. I understand this. So I do not complain.
SAM had to be at his fittest today as I moved him up field. What a difference that made. We pulled a goal back by that man BRIAN who latched onto a JOE assist . Our forward converting in the far post with an opportunist goal from outside the area with the keeper coming out. Great goal.
We were once again showing that we are a contention team as we were now getting our passes together. For some reason however we still would not use our wide players. Our forward play was in the area not on the edges of the box. Another weak goal from OSPREY'S due to players turning off.
Week in week out I try to tell the boy's that when they pass a ball they must find space to receive a return ball so they can clear upfield or pass their way out of danger. This does NOT happen. We conceded this goal and the away team's 4th for this reason.
we will look into this and I will have a word with BRIAN on Saturday.
We pull another goal back on 70 minutes through the most unlikeliest of players when I bring on BEN for the second time and put him in midfield. 2 minutes later he shoots through a crowded defence that somehow OHENE jumps over and eluded the keeper to find the ball in the net.
So 2-4 now and a quick word from Daz: We couldn't understand why MITCH was such a spectator. We couldn't understand why RYAN and SHARKIST were having such a poor game. It was like it was 11 v 8 sometimes.
That's the way it was to stay.
Not a good day at the office at all. We deserved to lose this one because of our attitude. Things must change for us to be successful
ATTITUDE and COMMITMENT. We can beat any one, if we address this issue.
So onto our last league game of the 2016-2017 . I am hoping for a large crowd. I am hoping for a win. It's what we deserve.
M.O.M Sorry. No-one this week.
FULL TIME : LOST 2-4
