HEMEL V ST ALBANS PREVIEW

6 months ago By Marc Willmore

For our opening game of 2018, The Tudors and The Saints meet on New Year's Day for the second local derby of the festive period.

Hemel Hempstead Town and St Albans City go head-to-head for the second time in this festive period, at Vauxhall Road on Monday 1st January 2018 (3pm kick off). Following Boxing Day's competitive 2-2 draw (the fifth consecutive league game of the same scoreline between our clubs!) and the teams separated in the Vanarama National League South only by goal difference, this game will likely be just as exciting and popular for local football fans. Supporters of both clubs are encouraged to plan ahead for their visits to each others grounds and be aware of the arrangements in place.

Due to the likelihood of Vauxhall Road hosting a larger than average attendance for our fixture versus The Saints on New Years Day, segregation of the supporters will be implemented to assist our staff and stewards ensure the safety and comfort of all fans. Please note, the segregation will be implemented in the same manner as last seasons fixture - there will be NO access at the Tenzing Road side of the ground. Both sets of supporters will arrive at the ground via Vauxhall Road, then upon arrival at the car park home fans will be directed to the usual turnstiles adjacent to the clubhouse. Away fans will be directed to the top end of the car park to the turnstiles adjacent to the Astroturf training pitches. Stewards will be allocated to the car park area to direct supporters, please assist us in managing the game effectively by complying with the directions and requests stewards and staff both outside and inside the ground.

Inside the ground, St Albans City fans will be allocated the top end (Adeyfield School end) of the ground which includes the large covered terraced stand; temporary catering and toilet facilities will be installed. Any Saints fans who may require access to disabled or seating areas should engage with a steward upon arrival at Vauxhall Road. Hemel fans will be allocated the three remaining sides of the ground with access to the usual catering, toilet and bar facilities.

We are expecting a large attendance for this game, Vauxhall Road and the surrounding streets are likely to be very busy during the time leading up to kick off. Please consider arriving early to ease congestion at the turnstile and please be considerate to the local community if driving and parking in nearby residential areas. Entry to this game will be at turnstiles accessed via the Vauxhall Road car park ONLY. The turnstile at the Tenzing Road side of the stadium (located in the car park of the Dacorum Education Support Centre) will NOT be open for the game; likewise the car park there is unavailable for fans. Visitors to Vauxhall Road travelling by car should seek alternative parking arrangements and consider public car parks at nearby Queens Square and the car park at Travellodge/Toby Carvery accessible from Maylands Avenue, both of which are just a short walk away.

Vauxhall Road Admission prices:

  • Adult: £12

Concessionary price is available for over 65's, students in full-time education and military personnel. Identification will be required.
