BOWERS & PITSEA v HHTFC - 22/09/18

See below match report from Steve Rundle

Manager-less Hemel breezed into the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup without breaking into too much of a sweat in a very wet Essex. This was the Tudor's first game since the departure of gaffer Dean Brennan so it was left to the caretaker duo of Jordan Parkes and Darren Ward to occupy the dugout, and they both started - and finished - on the bench, probably to get more of a "managerial" perspective. It was also nice to see us do to lesser opposition what we should have done against Taunton and Worthing in recent seasons ie: beat them. The first chance actually fell to Pitsea after 8 minutes, but their close range header just cleared the crossbar. A couple of minutes later Hemel were in front though, as a good move sent Sanchez Watt through and he fired low for 1-0. Just on the half-hour Roberts scored the goal of the game as he was fed the ball on the edge of the area, and unleashed a lovely first-time shot that flew into the top corner. 2-0 and already the difference in class and technique was evident. The home side continued to try to find something and had chances of their own, but Walker was having none of it. Just before the break McCall whipped in for Watt to fire home from close range. 3-0 and the Tudors were cruising. The half time tea was still hot when a great one-two between Watt and sub Olliyide resulted in the latter sliding it past the keeper for number 4. Just before the hour Hemel were awarded a penalty - a tad harsh as contact was minimal - and Cawley stepped up to bang in No.5. Bowers never gave up though, desperate to get something, but Hemel were still in first gear. With about ten minutes to go Hemel were awarded another penalty, as Olliyide rounded the defender then - in what seemed like slow motion, foundhimself on the 3G pitch. The ref gave it (and the Pitsea players were probably past caring by then) and Watt duly tucked away the spot-kick to complete his hat-trick. As the game neared its' end Pitsea were given a penalty - I didn't actually see the incident but if it was harsh we could hardly complain - and it was slotted home for a consolation. A great performance, as we'd expect against a side two divisions below us, but we've learned to take nothing for granted where Hemel are concerned ;-) Great stuff and in the hat for Monday's draw.
Tudors!
